Emergency Medical Services

From gunshot wounds to domestic violence to highway trauma, Emergency Medical Service personnel are trained to handle any situation. The EMS program at Lamar State College-Orange provides all of the necessary training to prepare the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to respond to all types of emergencies.

EMT-Basic (IA) Institutional Award

The Emergency Medical Services Program offers students the opportunity to obtain the EMT-Basic requirements in one semester. Students will be eligible to sit for the NREMT-Basic Certification Exam upon successful completion of coursework.

EMT-Intermediate (IA) Institutional Award

The Emergency Medical Services Program offers students the opportunity to obtain the EMT-Intermediate requirements in one semester. All curricula combine classroom teaching with supervised clinical, laboratory, and ambulance internship experience. Emphasis is placed on patient assessment and initial treatment techniques of medical and traumatic emergencies appropriate to the certification and licensure level being sought.
